About Us

Floyd A. Dixon, Owner of Dixon Equipment Services, Inc., began his career in 1957 at the age of 15, learning to maintain and operate draglines and cranes in his father’s sandpit business. He went on to run the business at the age of 19, when the company supplied sand and topsoil for the construction of the Harris County Dome Stadium.

Mr. Dixon was employed at Houston’s Head & Guild Equipment from 1968-1977, starting as a crane operator and rigging advisor, then advancing to a rental sales agent; a position he held for 7 years. This position required sizing Loraine and Lima equipment for customers in the construction of chemical plants and refineries. He also consulted in rigging and heavy hauling for general and maintenance contractors.

In 1978, Mr. Dixon joined friend, Mr. Turner Williams, as President of the Turner Williams Corp., an equipment locator and consulting firm.

In 1988, after the death of Mr. Williams, Mr. Dixon formed his own company, Dixon Equipment Services, Inc.. He worked in the company as a safety consultant, inspector of lifting equipment, and the certification of operators and riggers. Today, he is enjoying his semi-retirement, passing his knowledge to family members who handle the daily working of the business.
